Buying in Delhi, living in Gurugram: what changes

Condominium living, and where disputes actually start
Gurugram’s high-rise condominiums are well suited to a larger dog on paper — lifts are standard, corridors are wide, and many complexes have internal walking loops. The friction is social, and reporting on pet rules in the city consistently points at the same flashpoints: lifts, parks and common areas, and dog-bite incidents that end up in front of the residents’ association.
- Your maintenance agency is not your RWA. In many Gurugram complexes a facility management company enforces day-to-day rules while an apartment owners’ association sets them. Find out which one you are actually dealing with before a dispute, not during.
- Podium and landscaped decks are the contested ground. Establish where your dog may and may not go, and stick to it visibly.
- Muzzle expectations differ from Delhi. Public-area leash and muzzle requirements are set by the civic authority here; know what applies to you rather than assuming Delhi practice carries across.
- One bite ends the argument. Whatever the legal position on pets in societies, an incident in a shared lift changes the politics permanently. Lead manners and a solid sit-and-wait at lift doors are worth more than any rulebook.

Which size, and what the week looks like
Gurugram accommodates a Standard Goldendoodle more comfortably than most of Delhi — lifts, larger flats and internal walking circuits all help. The real constraint is the working week. Gurugram households often combine long commutes with unpredictable hours, which is a scheduling problem rather than a space problem.

Everything above describes the Gurugram position.
