Metro areas we cover

Some of the cities we answer for sit inside a recognised metropolitan area, and a few of those cross a state boundary. Where that is true it is set out below. Where it is not, we have left the city out rather than invent a grouping for it.

  • Metro areas 5
  • Cities in them 17

Delhi NCR

Delhi (NCT) · Haryana · Uttar Pradesh

A planning region that crosses three state boundaries. Delhi is a Union Territory; Gurugram and Faridabad are in Haryana; Noida and Ghaziabad are in Uttar Pradesh. This is the area the service already covers for collection as well as delivery.

Mumbai Metropolitan Region

Maharashtra

Mumbai and the municipal corporations around it, all in Maharashtra and all separate civic bodies rather than parts of Mumbai itself.

Kolkata Metropolitan Area

West Bengal

Kolkata with Howrah across the Hooghly and Maheshtala to the south, all in West Bengal.

Chennai Metropolitan Area

Tamil Nadu

Chennai with Ambattur and Avadi, both separate corporations inside the Chennai metropolitan area in Tamil Nadu.

Asansol–Durgapur

West Bengal

The two industrial centres of western West Bengal, about forty kilometres apart and usually spoken of together.

Why the list is short

Most cities are not in a metro group

A metro area only appears here when we cover at least two cities inside a genuine, commonly recognised one. Grouping distant cities together because they are in the same state would make this page look fuller and tell you nothing true.

For everywhere else, start from the state.
